Responsibilities

Provides direct patient care in an area designated as a specialty unit in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies, values, and mission of the organization; Effectively delegates patient care to ancillary personnel; May precept student nurses and new hires; Evaluates learning needs of the patient and/or family and provides patient and family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances; Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including disposition, referral, and spiritual and/or psychosocial support needs; Plans, implements, and evaluates patient care based on patient assessment to optimize outcomes and maximize available resources; Monitors, documents, and communicates patient condition as appropriate.

Accredited Program: Nursing (Required); ACLS American Heart E-Card - American Heart Association; ACLS American Heart RQI E-Card - American Heart Association; ACLS Certification_non ecard - American Heart Association; ACLS Certification - Red Cross; ACLS Certification Grace - Employee Grace Period for Essential Credential; BLS American Heart E-Card - American Heart Association; BLS American Heart RQI E-Card - American Heart Association; BLS Cert American Heart_non ecard - American Heart Association; BLS Certification Grace - Employee Grace Period for Essential Credential; BLS Cert Red Cross - Red Cross; Registered Nurse Compact License - Compact RN Multistate; Registered Nurse License - State of Florida; One (1) year of nursing experience required; Requires critical thinking skills, effective communications skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision; Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action; Department specific credentials: ONCC Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Provider Certificate required for those RNs administering chemotherapy; APHON Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Provider card required within 12 months of hire for those RNs administering chemotherapy for oncologic indication within the pediatric setting; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required for ICU, ED, PACU, Endo, Tele, OB, MHN Pre-Op and Specialty Procedural areas; PALS required for Pediatric areas with exception of NICU (if RN coming from non-pediatric background, 30 days from date of hire to obtain PALS); NRP certification required for NICU (if RN coming from non-NICU background, 30 days from date of hire to obtain NRP); Certification in Fetal Monitoring through National Credential Center or through AWOHNN (Intermediate or Advanced) for L&D RNs must be completed prior to completion of job orientation; RN Fellowship Program requires one (1) year of RN independent practice not inclusive of nurse orientation; RN Fellowship specialties ACLS and BLS Certifications; Newly licensed RNs have six (6) months to obtain ACLS and/or PALS.
