Performs general heavy and light cleaning and housekeeping services in University buildings such as residence halls, hospital, administration/academic buildings, etc.

Responsibilities

Performs general heavy and light cleaning and housekeeping services in University buildings such as residence halls, hospital, administration/academic buildings; Operates a variety of light or heavy duty housekeeping and floor maintenance machines and equipment to strip, wax and buff floors; Performs cleaning and disinfecting procedures by fogging rooms and washing floors, walls, furniture and fixtures with germicidal detergents; Washes walls, ceilings, stairs, windows, blinds and screens; Empties wastebaskets and picks up trash from designated areas; Performs custodial-type duties such as moving equipment/furniture, changing light bulbs and shoveling snow; Maintains cleanliness of work storage closet and equipment

Requirements

Ability to understand and carry out oral instructions; Ability to stand, walk, bend and reach continuously; Ability to handle heavy and medium-weight material, equipment and supplies; Normally exposed to refuse, dirt, dust, detergents, body wastes and odors indoors and outdoors; Occasionally exposed to possible contact with infection and infectious diseases
