Senior Associate – Technology, Media & Telecommunications

This is a standout opportunity for an experienced TMT/IT lawyer to join a highly respected practice in Auckland, working at the forefront of cutting-edge technology, media, and telecommunications matters across New Zealand and the wider Asia-Pacific region. The team is known for its deep sector knowledge, long-standing client relationships, and commercially pragmatic approach, offering an exceptional platform for a senior practitioner to advance their career. You will act for a diverse and sophisticated client base, including major private and public sector organisations, emerging tech innovators, investors, broadcasters, media platforms, and health-related entities. The work spans the full spread of TMT mandates—from large-scale technology procurement and supply arrangements to commercial contracting, licensing, digital content issues, privacy and cyber matters, gaming, media and entertainment queries, marketing initiatives, and production-related work within the TV and film space. There is also close collaboration with a busy corporate team on significant tech and telco transactions, giving you a steady stream of varied, high-value, and intellectually engaging matters.

Responsibilities

Requirements

7+ years’ dedicated TMT experience gained in private practice or in-house; A strong track record advising on the full spectrum of TMT matters; Expertise in privacy, data protection and cyber; Excellent drafting and negotiation skills; Solid understanding of key regulatory frameworks relevant to the sector; A collaborative mindset and a genuine interest in contributing to a cohesive, high-performing team; Applicants from overseas common law jurisdictions are welcome, provided they can meet admission requirements and are prepared to relocate to New Zealand
