Senior, Back-end Engineer [L5] (Advertiser Platform)

The Coupang Ads organization is looking for passionate software developers to build the systems and infrastructure that power Coupang's advertising products. The role includes greenfield project development, low-latency and highly available services, scalable systems, and API development for programmatic integration. It also involves solving complex problems to improve system scalability and reliability and operating resources efficiently. Responsibilities

Interpret business requirements into technical solutions and implement them to meet business needs; design, develop, and operate scalable, high-performance microservices-based back-end services for advertiser campaign management and reporting; collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (front-end developers, product managers, data analysts, UX designers) to deliver seamless and efficient solutions; implement robust and secure APIs for integration with various components of the advertising platform; decompose complex problems into simple solutions and drive technical solutions that enable teams to move quickly by priority; investigate critical system issues to proactively address root causes and raise operational excellence standards; research new technologies and industry trends and provide solutions that improve platform-wide value and efficiency; define requirements, processes, and procedures for development, improvement, and testing projects

Requirements

BA/BS degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related field; 3+ years of software development experience with a deep understanding of algorithms, data structures, and design patterns; deep understanding of web-based software architecture, distributed systems, and message-based architecture; expertise in designing and developing RESTful, GraphQL, and gRPC APIs and microservices architecture; experience with database systems, data warehousing concepts, and languages (SQL, NoSQL); experience with large-scale operational systems with fault tolerance and monitoring; strong problem-solving and debugging skills; effective communication and teamwork skills

Nice to have

Experience in advertising and e-commerce domains; experience with big data and/or machine learning at an appropriate scale; experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud; experience with containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes); experience as a software development team lead; experience with agile software development; experience with Spring, Java, Kotlin, Node.js, Kafka, Redis, Hive, Hadoop, Spark, or ElasticSearch
