Senior Backend Software Engineer - Workplace Products

Verkada is transforming how organizations protect their people and places with an integrated, privacy-sensitive AI-powered platform that includes solutions for video security, access control, air quality sensors, alarms, intercoms, and visitor management. We are a small, dynamic team and are looking for software engineers who thrive in a high growth environment. As part of the Software Engineering team, you'll have ownership of one or more projects on various product or platform facing teams. You will work across the full software stack and collaborate cross functionally to build the latest iterations of Verkada's flagship software, enabling our best-in-class security systems.

Requirements

Excited by new products and startups; Think about delivering best-in-class products and experiences - not features; Can take a less-than-fully-fleshed-out product idea and drive it to completion; BS or a graduate degree in Computer Science, Maths, Engineering, or science; 6+ years of industry backend software engineering experience; 2+ years of professional experience as a backend engineer at a rapidly growing start up or innovative company; Experience driving technical direction and leading teams on project execution; Architect scalable systems and design latency sensitive applications; Experience collaborating cross functionally to design complex systems with simple and robust backend APIs; History of shipping out significant products; Ownership mentality, resolving problems that span beyond team boundaries; Deep expertise with relational databases; Demonstrated expertise in either Python or GoLang

Nice to have

Postgres experience; Experience with Kubernetes; Experience building messaging systems; Proven track record of designing and maintaining highly available, distributed messaging architectures (e.g., mass notification systems); Strong understanding of the SMS ecosystem, including throughput management, carrier delivery nuances, and global compliance
