Senior Electrical Engineer

Job Overview: The Senior Electrical Engineer uses best practices and knowledge of internal or external issues to improve the electrical discipline within McDermott. They will act as a resource for colleagues with less experience and share their conceptual and practical expertise related to the electrical discipline. The Senior Electrical Engineer solves complex problems and uses their discipline-specific knowledge to improve their products or services. The Senior Electrical Engineer impacts a range of customers, operational, project, or service activities with the electrical team and other related teams and ensures that they are working within the appropriate guidelines and policies.

Responsibilities

Perform conceptual, FEED, Studies, and detailed analyses and design as per design basis, project specifications, design codes, and standards; Apply knowledge and skills to a wide range of standard and nonstandard situations; Prepare clear and accurate detailed design calculations and analyses including design reports and procedures; Manage own time to meet agreed deadlines and budgets, and develop plans for short-term work activities in own area; Clearly communicate and explain complex issues and work to establish understanding; Apply thorough working knowledge to prepare and oversee the development of key project deliverables, including Specifications and Datasheets, Electrical Load List, One-line diagrams, Motor control schematics, Electrical building and equipment layouts, Bills of Material, Cable sizing calculations, Conceptual studies and calculations, Relay Coordination, Cost and planning studies; Lead Project Development and Coordination, including maintain and promote focus on McDermott’s end-product, function as electrical engineering project lead or electrical task lead, become familiar with project scope, report to electrical engineering lead, supervise and coordinate with electrical engineers and designers, coordinate with other discipline engineers and Client’s engineer, manage change, assume responsibility for cost, schedule, quantity and budget control; Lead the development and support of vendor packages, including create/issue/manage requisition packages for Substations, Transformers, and Electrical materials, create/issue/manage subcontract packages for Heat Tracing, Cathodic Protection, and Electrical Installation, coordinate review of supplier documents, coordinate and supervise Inspection and Factory Acceptance Testing; Lead Site Support, including off-site and/or on-site technical support to Construction personnel, manage site issues and coordinate with office personnel, provide detailed technical support and supervision for Site Acceptance Testing, provide technical assistance for pre-commissioning, energization, commissioning, and start-up

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, or Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering, Master’s Degree is Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or another technical degree; Accredited engineering degree may be required by specific regions; 8-15 years of experience of detailed electrical engineering experience; Strong working knowledge of many design techniques, and analysis methods, and detailed knowledge of the content and application of standards, codes, and guidelines, including NEC, NFPA, IEEE, and ANSI, and the latest scientific and engineering methods; Technical knowledge of the detailed design engineering process; Project coordination and execution skills; Intermediate experience with Smart Plant Electrical (SPEL), ETAP, and MS Office Suite including Excel and Word
