Senior Roadway Engineer / Project Manager

Responsibilities

Roadway Design: Take charge of the design and plan preparation for both highway and local road projects; Quality Assurance: Lead internal quality reviews to ensure plans meet highest technical standards; Mentorship: Provide guidance and feedback to junior engineers; Proposal Development: Assist in preparing and negotiating project fee proposals; Project Scheduling and Budgeting: Prepare design schedules, construction cost estimates, and deliver staged project submittals on time and within budget; Client Interaction: Build and maintain strong client relationships through presentations and regular communication; Scope and Change Management: Recognize scope changes and assist with contract negotiations; Team Collaboration: Work closely with team of engineers, technicians, and administrative staff to execute transportation projects

Requirements

BS in Engineering from an ABET-accredited College or University; Professional Engineer (PE) license in North Carolina required, or ability to obtain one within 6 months; Proficiency in the design, preparation, and delivery of roadway design plans; Familiarity with AASHTO, FHWA, and NCDOT standards; Experience with MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, and AutoCAD; Prior experience managing projects, including developing proposals and overseeing project timelines and budgets; Background in mentoring or managing teams; Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with clients and team members alike
