Senior Servicenow Engineer

The ServiceNow Platform team owns implementations and integrations for our global instance of ServiceNow. As a Senior Engineer, you will be responsible for the architecture, design, and extensibility of our ServiceNow platform that empower LinkedIn's enterprise operations across IT Operations, HR, Finance, and Workplace systems. You will directly impact the day-to-day experience of LinkedIn's 17,500+ Employees and Contingent Workforce. The work location of this role is hybrid, meaning it will be performed both from home and from a LinkedIn office on select days, as determined by the business needs of the team.

Responsibilities

Define engineering craftsmanship and maintain accountability for the integrity of code design, implementation, quality, data, and ongoing maintenance and operations; Lead the design, development, and optimization of complex ServiceNow solutions; Architect and govern CMDB and Asset Management solutions; Act as a technical authority across SAM (HAM/SAM Pro), ITOM, SPM, and enterprise analytics and reporting; Design scalable CMDB models that support ITOM visibility, asset lifecycles, compliance, reporting, and integration with downstream systems; Build and optimize Platform Analytics, Performance Analytics, and executive-level dashboards; Define technical patterns, guardrails, and reference architectures; Partner with Product Management, Business Stakeholders, Information Security, and Operations to translate strategic goals into technical solutions; Mentor engineers and provide architectural guidance through design reviews, code reviews, and technical coaching; Lead complex troubleshooting efforts, including CMDB health issues, discovery failures, integration bottlenecks, and performance degradation; Produce high-quality, audit-ready technical documentation, including solution designs, data models, and architectural diagrams

Requirements

BA/BS degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline, or related practical experience; 10+ years of experience in software design, development, and algorithm-related solutions; Experience with core computer science fundamentals including data structures, algorithms, and design patterns; 2+ years of hands-on experience with ServiceNow HR/TSM modules, including creating service catalogs, record producers, portals, workflows, and orchestrations; 3+ years of hands-on experience with CMDB architecture, discovery, normalization, reconciliation rules, and CI lifecycle management; Experience with asset lifecycles, license compliance, software normalization, and hardware asset governance

Nice to have

ServiceNow Certified Technical Architect (CTA) or Certified Master Architect (CMA); BS and 8+ years of relevant work experience, MS and 7+ years of relevant work experience, or PhD and 4+ years of relevant work experience; Knowledge of computer science, with strong competencies in data structures, algorithms, and software design; Understanding of platform governance, upgrade strategies, and technical debt management; ServiceNow ITOM, SAM Pro, and SPM; CMDB data modeling and governance; Integration design and event-driven architectures; Performance Analytics and executive dashboards; Platform guardrails, patterns, and reference architectures
