Server Assistant

The Server Assistant is responsible for the overall guest dining experience within the restaurant outlet to include but not limited to retrieving and serving alcoholic/non-alcoholic beverages and food orders to guest tables according to hotel specifications, courteously and efficiently. Preparing specific food items, table side. Collecting payments. Assisting in the maintenance of the restaurant area and equipment.

Responsibilities

Responsible for the overall guest dining experience within the restaurant outlet; retrieving and serving alcoholic/non-alcoholic beverages and food orders to guest tables according to hotel specifications; preparing specific food items, table side; collecting payments; assisting in the maintenance of the restaurant area and equipment; maintaining complete knowledge of and complying with all departmental policies, service procedures and standards; maintaining complete knowledge of table/seat/station numbers, room capacity, hours of operation, proper table set-up and dress code; maintaining complete knowledge of all liquor brands, beers and non-alcoholic selections, correct glassware and garnishes; maintaining knowledge of wine/champagne descriptions; maintaining complete knowledge of menu items, prices, preparation method/time, ingredients and quality standards; maintaining complete knowledge of and strictly abiding by state liquor regulations; maintaining complete knowledge of VIPs; maintaining complete knowledge of P.O.S. and manual systems; completing opening and closing side duties; retrieving alcoholic beverage items from bar and serving to guests; opening and serving wine/champagne bottles; serving all food courses and non-alcoholic beverage items; anticipating guests' needs and responding promptly; handling guest complaints following the six-step procedure; monitoring and maintaining cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned station and service areas; adhering to payment, cash handling and credit policies/procedures; collecting and reporting tips; exhibiting a friendly, helpful and courteous manner; performing all other duties as required

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent combination of education and work-related experience; Current and valid Food Handler Certification; Current and valid Responsible Beverage Service Certification and Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) Server ID; Minimum 21 years of age to pour alcoholic beverages; Minimum two years' experience in restaurant service; Required to speak, read and write English; Must be able to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy; Must be able to prioritize, organize and follow-up; Must be a clear thinker, remaining calm and resolving problems using good judgment; Must follow directions thoroughly; Must understand a guest's service needs; Must work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team; Must work with minimal supervision; Must maintain confidentiality of guest information and pertinent hotel data; Must be able to work well under pressure of meeting production schedules and timelines for guests' hot food orders; Must be able to maintain good coordination; Must be able to transport cases of received goods to the workstation; Must be able to work an 8-12 hour shift in hot, noisy and sometimes close conditions; Must be able to work with all products and food ingredients involved; Must be able to use all senses to ensure quality standards are met; Must be able to differentiate dates; Must be able to operate, clean and maintain all equipment required in job functions; Must be able to comprehend and follow recipes; Must be able to perform job functions with minimal supervision; Must be able to exert physical effort in transporting 20 pounds; Must be able to endure various physical movements throughout the work areas; Must be able to reach up and down; Must be able to remain stationary at times throughout work periods; Must be able to satisfactorily communicate with guests and co-workers to their understanding

Nice to have

Hotel operational exposure (i.e. F&B) preferred; Experience with a luxury or ultra-luxury property or brand preferred; Fluency in other languages preferred
