SkillBridge: Machine Operator

Airbus Aerosystems Kinston is looking for a Machine Operator to join our Operations department based in Kinston, NC. This is an authorized DoD SkillBridge partner program (per DoDI 1322.29), a 180-day program allowing transitioning service members to leverage their military technical expertise in a high-precision aerospace environment. The team manufactures crucial aircraft components. The facility specializes in the production of large, advanced composite aerostructures, building critical components for the Airbus A350 XWB, including the composite center fuselage and wing spar. SkillBridge participants continue to receive military pay and benefits from the DoD; no salary or financial compensation is provided by Airbus during the program. Upon successful completion of the program and military separation, candidates may be considered for a permanent position.

Responsibilities

Sets up and operates a variety of machine tools to make parts, mechanisms, tools, or machines to exacting tolerances and dimensions; Interprets blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications; Uses a variety of machinist's hand tools and precision measuring instruments; May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures; Produce parts or assemblies using Conventional or Computerized Numerical Controlled (CNC) mediums, while ensuring product and/or process quality; Perform routine minor machine maintenance as part of daily work duties; Support the continuous flow of product within the manufacturing process by training and assisting employees of the same or lower classification level; Trains to become MVP qualified

Requirements

Active-duty service member within 180 days of separation; Written Commander (O-4 or above) authorization; Must have current work authorization for U.S. positions; Must be willing and able to work any shift; Workkeys Assessment completion OR High School Diploma/GED; Eligible for employment in the US without current or future need for visa sponsorship; Typically requires completion of a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience; Required PPE includes Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Respirators/Masks, and/or Protective Gloves as required by site and/or customer site; Must meet physical requirements including daily vision, hearing, speaking, sitting, squatting/kneeling, standing, walking; weekly carrying/lifting up to 30lbs/14kgs; pushing/pulling; occasional travel
