Software Engineer II, Backend (Card Integrations and Payments Experience)

The Card team at Affirm develops high quality, seamless, scalable and flexible platforms that enable users to get transparent financing for purchases with Affirm's card products. As a Software Engineer on the Card Checkout team, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing complex software systems that allow for a seamless checkout experience. The team focuses on the in-app experience of Affirm Card products and is a full-stack team of backend and mobile engineers partnering with product, design and analytics.

Responsibilities

Break down larger projects into individual tasks, deliver them in multiple phases, and collaborate to ensure timely delivery; Support peers and stakeholders in the product development lifecycle by collaborating with product management, design and analytics, participating in ideation, articulating technical constraints, and partnering on decisions involving risks and trade-offs; Support the operations and availability of team artifacts by creating and monitoring metrics, escalating when needed, and supporting keep-the-lights-on and on-call efforts; Contribute to team community through growth and development activities such as participating in the interview process; On-call rotation as a requirement of the role

Requirements

2+ years of experience as a software engineer; Experience designing, developing and launching backend systems; Proficiency in one of Python or Kotlin; Familiarity with the building blocks of distributed systems and technologies like AWS, MySQL and Kubernetes; Ability to write high quality, easily understood code; Comfort navigating a large code base, debugging others' code, and providing feedback through code reviews; Ability to turn simple problems or business scenarios into solutions that interact with multiple software components, with clear, well tested and extensible code; Takes ownership of growth and proactively seeks feedback; Strong verbal and written communication skills; Must be based in Spain
