The Senior Accountant will play an important role in the monthly close process, owning assigned general ledger accounts, preparing journal entries, performing reconciliations, and supporting financial reporting. This position will have exposure to various accounting areas, including cash, accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, revenue, cost of goods sold (COGS), inventory, and other general accounting activities. Adaptability, attention to detail, and a strong foundation in U.S. GAAP are critical to success in this role.

Responsibilities

Own assigned general ledger accounts and take responsibility for the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of account balances.; Prepare and post monthly journal entries, including accruals, prepaid expenses, amortization, fixed assets, revenue, COGS, inventory, and other general accounting transactions.; Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations, investigate variances, resolve discrepancies, and maintain appropriate supporting documentation.; Participate in the full monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process, ensuring assigned activities are completed accurately and on schedule.; Analyze general ledger activity, identify unusual fluctuations, and provide explanations for month-over-month variances.; Partner with cross-functional teams to research transactions, resolve accounting issues, and improve financial reporting processes. Assist with financial statement preparation and monthly management reporting.; Support external audits by preparing schedules, responding to auditor requests, and maintaining audit-ready documentation.; Follow established internal controls and contribute to process improvement initiatives and SOX compliance activities, where applicable.; Continuously identify opportunities to improve efficiency, strengthen controls, and enhance accounting processes.; Assist with special projects, system implementations, and other accounting initiatives as needed.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.; 4–6 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably including public accounting or public company exposure.; Strong experience with general ledger accounting, journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close.; Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP and accounting principles.; Experience working across multiple accounting functions in a fast-paced environment.; Ability to independently research accounting issues, analyze data, and develop practical solutions.; Experience supporting external audits and maintaining internal controls.; Experience with ERP systems, prefer NetSuite preferred.; Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong analytical capabilities.; Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.; Self-starter with a proactive mindset and ability to manage multiple priorities.

Nice to have

CPA certification (preferred, not required).; Experience working for a publicly traded company or within a SOX-compliant environment.; Experience in eCommerce, retail, distribution, or other inventory-driven businesses.; Familiarity with high-volume transaction environments, payment processors, and revenue accounting workflows.; Experience with ERP implementations, accounting automation, or process improvement initiatives.
