Role Summary

In this role, the Component Engineer will be supporting assigned tasks related to managing electronic component selection and maintenance of part library working with a broader component engineering team responsible for various hardware designs for current and next generation of Rivian electric vehicles.

This is a Hybrid position with 3-days in office.

Responsibilities

Responsible for Electrical Components library maintenance from component engineering point of view.; Support component engineering team to implement multi-sourcing in our design, manufacturing flows and drive part life cycle maintenance.; Partner with Purchasing and Program Management teams to make sure there is alignment between; part availability, cost, and planned build dates for HW; Support design engineering in the selection of electronic components for their applications; Generate Internal Part Numbers for new part requests for new designs in the Arena PLM database.; Scrub Bill of Materials (BoM) to ensure compliance to application requirements (AEC-Q,; Electrical/Mechanical, Temperature grade; Manage the supply chain lifecycle for electronic components (EOL/LTB, PCNs, etc.); Support supply chain during clear to build (CTB) reviews by identifying alternate components for known; shortages; Contribute to overall process and workflow development between the cross functional teams; Report weekly status to management on progress for expected deliverables and highlight risks

Requirements

Experience in component engineering, electrical engineering, or related field.; Prior experience in RF, Passives, and emerging technologies in Automotive; Prior experience in analyzing and evaluating new or improved electronic components; Understanding of Product Life Cycle Management (PLM) and ECAD tools (Altium, OrCAD); applicable component responsibilities.; Knowledge of AEC-Q qualification process; Electrical Engineering Design/Test background; Altium and Cadence Experience
