Sr. Phlebotomist Seneca Falls

Provides quality and inclusive patient centered healthcare. Oversees all aspects of Phlebotomy Staff training. Provide technical expertise and enhance the growth of the department through areas of staff development and training personnel in day-to-day operations.

Responsibilities

Collects, registers, and processes patient laboratory specimens using a variety of collection techniques, protocols, and computer systems; Follows rigorous patient identification protocols for all ages and levels of complexity; Services patients and performs home draws at any assigned location, including Patient Service Centers, Clinics, and Nursing Homes; Trains new staff and coordinates other necessary training, including program maintenance and development, orientation, and direction of in-house trainers; Evaluates training progress and assesses staff competency; Documents and reports competency to meet regulatory requirements; Coordinates the retraining of current staff when ongoing errors are identified; Coordinates ongoing staff training and development; Participates in maintaining the department in technical readiness to meet the regulatory compliance standards for New York State, CAP, and any other regulatory agency inspecting the clinical laboratory; Ensures staff follow laboratory policies and procedures, including safety and security; Works with supervisor(s) and other laboratory staff to plan for and accomplish departmental and organizational goals and objectives; Promotes and supports a positive team environment within the laboratory; Continuously assesses work processes and suggests improved work methods and ways to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and solve operational problems; Evaluates and implements new techniques and procedures that may be considered for process change; Other duties as assigned

Requirements

2 years of Phlebotomy experience; Excellent communication, word processing and computer skills; Professional discretion and confidentiality; Ability to work a rotation of shifts and work weekends and holidays; Phlebotomy Trained Phlebotomy certification or equivalent upon hire

Nice to have

Associate's degree; 2 years of Phlebotomy operational experience
