Sr. Software Engineer

Provides technical expertise in all aspects of software development, including the design, coding, deployment, testing, debugging, maintenance and basic project management of software applications and systems. Meets with customers to perform business analysis and generate project requirements. Proposes and creates robust and secure system architectures and solutions, and is proactive in making recommendations for improvements to systems and processes. Builds websites and software applications that provide significant functionality and value to the University and customers. Supports existing applications/systems while providing excellent customer service. May mentor and/or train new and/or lower level staff.

Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent and 5 years of relevant experience; Experience with and knowledge of a modern object-oriented programming language and framework; Experience retrieving and writing data to databases; Experience designing database schemas and data models; Experience with industry standard development tools and technologies, including IDEs, such as Visual Studio, and source control tools, such as Git; Experience building excellent system architectures and well-designed software systems; Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Understanding of secure coding best practices

Nice to have

Bachelor's degree; Experience in higher education, medical, or healthcare industries; Experience with multiple programming languages and frameworks; Experience with project management methodologies, including Agile, from planning through implementation; Exposure to administering servers, including patching, configuring and debugging issues; Understanding of basic networking concepts, such as DNS, subnets, CNAMEs and firewalls; Understanding of basic database administration concepts; AWS Certified Developer Cloud developer certification, such as Azure Developer or AWS Developer Associate upon hire
