Staff Software Engineer - Lending Foundations (Policy & Data Platform)

The Global Lending Foundations team, within our Global Lending BU, is building the platform that fundamentally changes how we design, build, and roll out lending decisions across new geographies. As a Staff Software Engineer, you will be a senior technical leader in this platform layer, defining the long-horizon technical direction for how Lending platforms scale across countries, products, and partners, and shaping how every future lending product is built across Brazil, the US, Mexico, Colombia and future markets. You will operate at platform scale, building shared infrastructure that other teams depend on for years, while working in a highly engaged, multi-level engineering group and partnering closely with product and business leaders.

Responsibilities

Defining the long-horizon technical direction for how Lending platforms scale across countries, products, and partners; Shaping how every future lending product is built across Brazil, the US, Mexico, Colombia and future markets; Operating at platform scale by building shared infrastructure that other teams depend on for years; Working in a highly engaged, multi-level engineering group and partnering closely with product and business leaders

Requirements

An engineer who has been in the role for at least 6 months and is ready to take on platform-scale challenges with broad architectural reach; Comfortable reasoning about data at scale, including schema evolution, data contracts, model and policies pipelines, and observability; Owns the data side of platform architecture, including schema evolution and data contracts; Brings analytics rigor into architectural decisions, including data quality, lineage, and observability; Deep experience with Nubank's tech stack, including Datomic, Kafka, Scala, and Clojure; Track record of driving alignment on hard architectural decisions across multiple teams and stakeholders; Mentoring senior engineers toward Staff; Ready to be a key technical leader on platform teams where the main customers are other engineering, data and product teams
