Staff Software Engineer

Xometry is looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join our Core Platform team. This role is a strategic technical leadership position focused on the architectural evolution of our flagship enterprise partnership. While our current plug-ins function as external add-ons, you will be responsible for re-architecting Xometry’s core application services to live natively within our partner's digital ecosystem. You will shape the technical direction of multiple products, establishing the engineering patterns that allow Xometry’s AI—trained on millions of parts—to operate directly on our partner's native 3D geometry. Your goal is to move the architectural framework toward a 'target state' where users experience zero-latency DFM feedback and one-click procurement without ever leaving their primary enterprise design environment.

Responsibilities

Design high-performance solutions and establish organizational standards for embedding Xometry-AI into external PLM environments; Advance architectural framework for extensibility, scalability, and strict enterprise SLIs/SLOs; Lead integration of production ML pipelines into the application layer and mentor engineers on AI-assisted development practices; Solve challenges regarding data gravity and security, including ring-fenced data governance; Establish strategic direction and lead execution of core integration ensuring DFM and IQE AI engines create a defensible edge; Facilitate technical discourse across the organization and guide risk/reward conversations with senior leadership; Define reliability and security standards for enterprise-grade deployments, ensuring seamless multi-tenant management

Requirements

12+ years of professional software development experience with a history of scaling complex platforms; Expert-level mastery of Python, AWS infrastructure, and modern frontend frameworks (React/NextJS) used for complex enterprise applications; Proven experience shaping the technical direction of multiple teams and establishing engineering patterns as organizational standards; A track record of securing endorsement for 6-12 month initiatives and driving them to successful production deployment; The ability to influence senior leadership and external partners on technical strategy and long-term technology investments; Bachelor’s in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience

Nice to have

Background in building Software as a Service (SaaS) platforms or complex B2B integration hubs; Experience with manufacturing, logistics, or CAD/PLM software ecosystems; Deep understanding of enterprise data controls, dedicated tenants, and SOC2/ISO compliance within a cloud environment; Experience architecting large-scale ML platforms or high-frequency marketplace engines
