Technical Accountant

Allen Lane are recruiting on behalf of a Local Authority for an Interim Technical Accountant to join their finance team on a 3–6 month contract, supporting technical accounting activities and the delivery of a robust external audit process.

Responsibilities

Prepare and complete balance sheet reconciliations across the Council’s accounts; Support the preparation and submission of VAT claims, ensuring accuracy and compliance; Prepare audit papers and supporting working papers in line with audit requirements; Respond to and resolve audit queries in a timely and accurate manner; Provide wider support to the external audit process, liaising with auditors as required; Ensure technical accounting compliance with CIPFA Code of Practice and relevant statutory requirements

Requirements

CCAB or equivalent professional accountancy qualification (CIPFA, ACCA, ACA, CIMA); Strong technical accounting background; Hands-on experience with balance sheet reconciliations, VAT, and audit processes; Ability to hit the ground running in a fast-paced interim environment
