MacLeod Cares Annapolis Royal Nursing Home is a 66-bed long-term care home in Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia, providing compassionate, person-centered care. The Activity Worker plans, develops, and implements group and individual activities for residents, satisfying their social, cultural, spiritual, and recreational needs.

Responsibilities

Planning, development, and implementation of group and individual activities for residents; Tailoring activities to residents’ preferences and satisfying their social, cultural, spiritual, and recreational needs; Direct contact with residents; Resident assessments, charting, computerized and paper record keeping; Volunteer coordination; Use of supplies and equipment; Maintenance of storage areas

Requirements

Therapeutic Recreation diploma or acceptable equivalent (experience/training); 1 year of experience developing, organizing, and delivering therapeutic programs; Strong ability to take direction and accept accountability; Proven teamwork and relationship-building skills; Reliable, flexible, and goal-oriented with strong organizational skills; Effective time management, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities; Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel; Maintains confidentiality and professionalism; Builds and supports positive relationships with residents, families, staff, and the community

Nice to have

Completion of a Dementia Care education program would be an asset; Previous satisfactory work experience will be considered; Previous work attendance will be considered
