Certified Nurse Midwife - Inpatient & Outpatient - FT - Days - MRH

The certified nurse midwife (CNM) is an advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) who is responsible for the assessment, plan, implementation and evaluation of nurse midwifery care delivered to antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum, and newborn patients. Competencies include accountability, customer service, developing and implementing a plan of care, patient and family centered care, patient safety - nursing, problem solving, responding to change, and standards of behavior. This role requires critical thinking skills, effective communication, decisive judgment, and the ability to build and foster positive relationships. The incumbent must be able to lead others and take appropriate action when required. Shift: primarily for office workers - not eligible for shift differential.

Responsibilities

Perform and participate in quality/performance improvement activities and clinical research; Formulate and implement prenatal, intrapartum, postpartum, newborn and interconceptional care as defined by the nurse midwife scope of practice; Provide patient and family education related to prenatal, intrapartum, postpartum, newborn and interconceptional care; Provide direct clinical services and management of mothers and babies according to their scope of practice or as defined in the standing orders, policies, procedures and protocols for the certified nurse midwife

Requirements

Accredited Program: Nursing (Required); Certified Nurse Midwife; Advanced Practicing Registered Nurse (APRN) licensure in the State of Florida (APRN-CNM), active and unencumbered prior to employment; Eligible for Florida State licensure as APRN-CNM; ACLS certification (AHA ECARD, AHA-RQI ECARD, AHA non-ecard, Red Cross, or Grace period); BLS certification (AHA ECARD, AHA-RQI ECARD, AHA non-ecard, Red Cross, or Grace period); NRP certification (AHA-RQI ECARD, AAP, or Grace period); Three (3) years as RN in OB or related field of medicine; Must meet privileging and credentialing requirements; Can be NALS or NRP certified
