Civil Engineer Intern- Structural

A Civil Engineer Intern with Houston Engineering Inc. (HEI) will spend time in the field working on outdoor construction phase activities as well as a variety of in-office projects assisting engineers. Structural engineering projects range from complex grade separation projects and large bridges spanning a river with architectural enhancements to box culverts for a rural township over a small ditch.

Responsibilities

Assist with plan specifications and estimates as well as documenting construction activities.; Assist with AutoCAD Civil 3D drawings and update redlines with various project set drawings.; Operate electronic survey instruments such as GPS and Total Station.; Perform work in a variety of software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, ArcGIS, etc.; Potential observation and data collection at different types of project sites.; Assist with research, development and design of projects.

Requirements

Enrolled in a Civil Engineering degree.; Completed coursework in general surveying and AutoCAD are preferred.; Able to work extended periods of time in outdoor conditions.; Above average math and communication skills.; Valid driver’s license and availability for overnight travel.
