Duties Summary: Independently develops, implements and evaluates individual educational plans for inmates confined in an adult correctional facility; and performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Legal authorization to work (U.S. citizen, national, permanent resident alien, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment); Knowledge of basic principles of human behavior and motivation, principles and practices of education and learning, instructional methods and materials, report writing; Ability to assess, plan, coordinate, carry out and evaluate academic/vocational activities for inmates, assess progress, learn and apply laws/rules/policies, maintain records and write reports, plan and conduct academic instruction, deal effectively with diverse people and agencies; Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university; One and one-half years of progressively responsible professional teaching experience involving developing educational lesson plans, providing instruction, assessing student progress and modifying educational plans; Subject to drug screening and intensive background check; Some positions require a valid driver's license; PREA requirement: no history of sexual abuse in an institution, no conviction for sexual activity by force/coercion, no civil/administrative adjudication of such acts, no substantiated allegations or resignation during pending investigation
