CT Technologist - Atrium Health Kannapolis FT Weekend Nights

CT Technologist I perform procedures in accordance with departmental protocols and standards. Operates CT Scanners and associated equipment with a high level of proficiency. This equipment includes scanner, post processing stations/programs, IV contrast injectors, O2 and suction equipment, patient transport and patient monitoring equipment.

Responsibilities

Performs CT scanning and assists Radiologist/PA during invasive procedures; Examines requests and verifies orders on each assigned patient; Properly identifies and assists patients while offering a brief explanation of procedures; Prepares patients for procedure and documents on worksheets; Interviews patients for complete medical history and reviews EMRs; Prepares and administers IV contrast according to departmental protocols; Evaluates technical quality of images and consults with Radiologist if needed; Performs basic patient care functions and informs nursing personnel of changes; Practices radiation safety standards; Operates radiology computer system to include entering orders and charging procedures/supplies; Maintains assigned work area in a neat and orderly fashion; Assists other medical personnel, such as anesthesia, when performing exams or services in conjunction with a CT scan

Requirements

Graduate of an institution accredited by an agency that ARRT recognizes in Radiologic or Nuclear Medicine Technology; ARRT certification in Radiology or NMTCB for Nuclear Medicine and advanced registry from the ARRT in CT within one year of hire; BLS required; Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development; Demonstrates skills and competency appropriate to ages, culture, developmental stages, and special needs of the patient population served; Requires moderate to heavy physical efforts in lifting and moving patients, equipment and supplies
