CT Technologist - Atrium Health Providence/Ballantyne FT Weekend Days

CT Technologist I perform procedures in accordance with departmental protocols and standards. Operates CT Scanners and associated equipment with a high level of proficiency. This equipment includes scanner, post processing stations/programs, IV contrast injectors, O2 and suction equipment, patient transport and patient monitoring equipment.

Responsibilities

Examines requests and verifies orders on each assigned patient; Properly identifies and assists patients while offering explanations of procedures; Interviews patients for complete medical history and reviews EMRs; Prepares and administers IV contrast according to departmental protocols; Evaluates technical quality of images and consults with Radiologist if needed; Performs basic patient care functions and assists in code blue procedures; Performs CT scanning and assists Radiologist/PA during invasive procedures; Practices radiation safety standards; Reports malfunctioning equipment; Adheres to hospital fire and safety procedures; Rotates shifts including call back, holidays, and weekends; Operates radiology computer system and documents contrast administration; Maintains assigned work area; Assists other medical personnel such as anesthesia.

Requirements

Graduate of an institution accredited by an agency that ARRT recognizes in Radiologic or Nuclear Medicine Technology; ARRT certification in Radiology or NMTCB for Nuclear Medicine; Advanced registry from the ARRT in CT within one year of hire required; BLS required; Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development; Demonstrates skills and competency appropriate to the ages, culture, developmental stages, and special needs of the patient population served; Requires moderate to heavy physical efforts in lifting and moving patients, equipment and supplies; Required to use radiation safety guidelines to prevent exposure to ionizing radiation.
