Cytotechnologist

Supporting West Bloomfield or Detroit. Detroit Coverage: Days, Afternoons, and weekends available. West Bloomfield Coverage: Afternoons and weekends available. Status: Contingent. Under general supervision, you'll prepare and stain specimens from all kinds of body sites and dive into the microscopic world to spot cancer and other abnormalities. You'll be the expert who issues diagnostic reports on normal (negative) gynecological specimens. Plus, you'll team up with clinicians at aspiration biopsy sites, expertly preparing smears and ensuring specimens are collected and processed to perfection.

Responsibilities

Prepare and stain specimens from all kinds of body sites; spot cancer and other abnormalities under the microscope; issue diagnostic reports on normal (negative) gynecological specimens; team up with clinicians at aspiration biopsy sites to prepare smears; ensure specimens are collected and processed properly

Requirements

Bachelor's degree with successful completion in CAAHEP accredited program in cytotechnology or fulfill CLIA88 requirements for cytotechnologist as stated in Federal Register 493.1483, if prior to 1992; ASCP eligibility or certification in cytotechnology
