Domestic Services Assistant (NT-Top End)

Provides support with household tasks to promote independence and participation in community life for individuals in various settings, such as assisted living or community-based programs. This role encompasses a range of duties including cleaning, laundry, meal preparation, and assisting with personal care, often requiring strong communication and interpersonal skills, according to career advice websites. In-Service Training: Participates in in-service education programs as mandated by State law. Working Conditions/Environment: Primarily works in patients' place of residence, travel required. Shift or visit times and days vary with patient needs.

Responsibilities

Cleaning: Vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, dusting, cleaning bathrooms and kitchens, and changing bed linens; Laundry: Washing, drying, folding, and ironing clothes; Meal Preparation: Cooking and preparing meals based on dietary needs and preferences; Supporting Independence: Encouraging participation in daily activities and assisting with tasks to promote self-sufficiency; Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Effectively communicating with residents, families, and other staff, and maintaining confidentiality; Organisation and Prioritization: Managing tasks, meeting deadlines, and working independently; Other Tasks: Depending on the setting, providing companionship and engaging in community activities

Requirements

Ability to read, write, speak and understand English as needed for the job; Demonstrated understanding of the needs of the older person in the Home Care Environment and the ways in which these needs can be met; Demonstrated ability to assist in the provision of holistic individual, client focused care using a systematic approach; Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with clients, significant others and other members of the Right at Home care team; Demonstrated ability to maintain and promote the safety of clients and self in the work environment including a knowledge of emergency procedures, Work Health and Safety and Infection Control; Demonstrated knowledge of the Legislation applicable to the role of a Domestic Services Assistant in the Home Care Environment; Federal Police Clearance Certificate; Ochre Card / Work with children Certificate; First Aid / CPR; Indemnity Insurance; Vehicle Comprehensive Insurance; Driver's License; NDIS Worker Screening Clearance; Certificate III Qualification in Aged Care / Certificate III Qualification in Disability / Home and Community Care; Proof of Education (Certificates, Diplomas, Degrees, Training); Resume; Three References
