Emergency Department Technician Full-time Evenings

The Emergency Department Technician position reflects the mission, vision, and values of Northwestern Medicine. Hours: 3pm - 3am with an every third weekend rotation. The Paramedic provides patient care within a defined scope of practice that includes patient care, monitoring and observation, specified treatments and procedures; provision of environmental and personal safety and effective communication.

Responsibilities

Provides patient care within a defined scope of practice, including patient care, monitoring and observation, specified treatments and procedures; Functions under the direction of the Emergency Nurse (RN) and Physician; Collects pertinent data within certification scope and reports clinical findings to the RN and Physicians; Assists patients with basic care needs; Prioritizes patient care activities based on patient needs and unit activity; Administers treatments and procedures within scope of practice as ordered by the physician, including vital signs, cardiac monitoring, 12 lead ECG, oxygen administration, wound care, IV starts and discontinuation, phlebotomy, and assisting in code situations; Identifies changes in patient condition and notifies RN/physician; Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

Current EMT P license without restrictions or EMT B within at least one (1) year relative experience in a similar capacity; including, but not limited to: Military experience, private ambulance company, fire department or healthcare setting; High School graduate or equivalent; CERT Basic Life Support
