Emergency Medicine - Full Time - NP/PA

WFEP – Catawba Valley Medical Center (CVMC) APP Job Scope. Location: Hickory, NC. APPs are able to see all patients and work to the top of their license. High functioning hospital and cohesive team with low turnover. ~258 bed hospital. No TC designation but have Interventional Cardiology and lots of specialty support. Chest Pain and Stroke Center designation. No separate fast track. Staff: 5 physicians, 5-6 APPs scheduled daily. APPs see 1.4 – 2.0 patients per hour. Role: Opportunities to see high acuity patients if desired but not required. Provider in Triage (PIT) shifts available during peak times are available and incentivized ($5 p/h). Able to consider NPs with Emergency experience. It is a higher acuity practice than some of our others. No new grads right now. Training: depends on experience level.

Responsibilities

Performs complex diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in diagnosing emergency medical problems and prescribing necessary treatment; Coordinates and schedules laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures; Carries out complex patient care services under indirect physician supervision; Monitors progress of patients and consults with supervising physician when progress does not meet anticipated criteria; Plans and schedules work for the physician's health team; Participates in basic science and clinical research projects; Teaches students, residents and interns in complex techniques and procedures; Ensures complete and accurate documentation in the medical record; Participates in continuing education in emergency/urgent care; Remains up to date with department and hospital policy; Ensures age/developmentally appropriate patient care

Requirements

NC PA/NP license; NPs must be ENP boarded or eligible; BLS; ACLS; Must obtain ATLS after starting eventually; Must be flexible to rotate through all shifts; No new graduates; Excellent oral and written communication skills; Ability to maintain composure and work efficiently under pressure; Ability to perform complex patient diagnostic and therapeutic procedures; Ability to work a rotating shift schedule
