Endoscopy Technician- Endoscopy- Full Time (32 hrs/wk)

The Endoscopy department at Elliot Hospital in Manchester, NH specializes in providing advanced endoscopic procedures using the latest technology. To function as an integral member of the endoscopy team by performing a variety of duties which assist the endoscopist in carrying out a safe endoscopy procedure with optimal results for the patient. Work Shift: Full Time, 32 hours per week + Call

Responsibilities

Facilitates the throughput of patients during admission, procedural, and recovery phases; Assists under the direct supervision of the physician with diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures; Responsible for the turnover of procedure rooms and admission/recovery areas; Demonstrates competency in the manual and automated cleaning process of scopes; Maintains adequate supply levels in procedure rooms, utility rooms, and office areas; Participates in the reporting of quality measures; Returns endoscopes and equipment to storage, cleans them, and ensures transport of certain items to the Sterile Processing Department; Utilizes appropriate chemicals for disinfection and monitors disinfectant shelf life; Reports malfunctioning endoscopes and equipment and completes repair requests; Communicates effectively with patients, their families, and EHS personnel; Provides backup support for the front office/reception area; Provides emotional and physical support to patients throughout the department's stay; Continues personal improvement in knowledge and competency; Assists overloaded team members and helps develop team cohesiveness; Performs other duties as required within the technician's scope of practice

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent; Licensed Nursing Assistant or Surgical Technician Certification; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within thirty (30) days of hire; Knowledge of infection prevention and control principles; Familiarity with endoscopic instrumentation and equipment; Familiarity with the digestive tract, disease process, and related endoscopy procedures; Basic computer skills; Customer relations skills that promote a positive image of the department and organization

Nice to have

Experience in an Endoscopy setting; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification at time of hire; EPIC experience; Microsoft Office experience
