Engineering Manager - AI Workflows

You will lead and grow the Internal AI Accelerator team as it expands from its current core to a fully formed engineering squad. You will own the strategy, delivery, and roadmap for how Xero designs and delivers agentic AI workflows that eliminate manual toil, speed up decision-making, and generate measurable productivity gains.

Responsibilities

Lead and grow the Internal AI Accelerator team into a fully formed engineering squad; Own the strategy, delivery and roadmap for designing and delivering agentic AI workflows; Work with business leaders across G&A, Finance, P&C and IT to co-build reusable AI patterns and governance frameworks; Build playbooks and reference architectures that other teams can adopt; Scale agentic AI delivery across finance, HR, support and operations; Build reusable patterns, platforms and governance frameworks; Design and implement technical architecture for enterprise AI deployments; Establish best practices for AI safety, evaluation and operations at scale; Set the pace, unblock the path and hold the team accountable to shipping

Requirements

Solid engineering credibility, ideally from shipping production software at scale; Pragmatic approach to strategy, able to move fast without all the answers, turning vague problems into clear scope and pivoting when needed; Leadership that gives the team ownership, pushes back on slowing processes and creates space for innovation alongside delivery; Genuine curiosity about people and a commitment to coaching them; Comfort bridging technical and non-technical stakeholders
