Experienced Veterinary Assistant

East & West Animal Hospital combines Eastern and Western veterinary medicine to provide compassionate, whole-pet care in a collaborative and supportive environment. The team is seeking a Veterinary Assistant who is eager to grow, loves client education, and is passionate about delivering high-quality, personalized care. Job duties include, but are not limited to, pet restraint, triage, lab sample collection and analysis, diagnostic imaging, medical and hospitalized case nursing care, medication administration, client communication of treatment plans, surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management. Hours of operation: Monday to Friday 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM, Saturday 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM, closed Sundays. Hiring may be contingent on a satisfactory background check.

Responsibilities

Pet restraint; Triage incoming patients; Collection and analysis of lab samples; Diagnostic imaging; Management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability; Administration of medications; Effective communication of treatment plans with clients; Surgical preparation and assistance; Anesthetic management

Requirements

Saturday shifts are required for this position; Proficient in sample collection, obtaining medical histories, and processing laboratory tests; Confident and safe animal handling and restraint skills; Compassionate, positive, and team-oriented attitude; Strong communication and client service skills; Ability to multitask and stay organized in a dynamic environment; Comfortable adapting quickly as case flow and patient needs change throughout the shift; Motivated self-starter with a desire to continue growing knowledge and clinical skills; Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises

Nice to have

Minimum of 1 year of veterinary assistant experience (preferred); Continuing education and clinical skill growth; Interest in client education
