General Laboratory Assistant

ALS Minerals is internationally recognised as the global leader in providing geochemical sample preparation, analytical procedures and data management solutions, with its European hub lab based in Loughrea, Co. Galway. The company is seeking motivated individuals to join its team as General Laboratory Operators with an immediate start.

Responsibilities

Follow safety rules and practices at all times; Wear protective equipment specified for each task; Advise Supervisor of anything suspicious, potentially hazardous, or possibilities for improvement; Perform work as assigned by the Laboratory Manager or other supervisor and report completion; Follow written methods and procedures, or oral instructions when written instructions are not available; Check and maintain order of samples being processed and sample identification, and report deviations; Handle samples to preserve their identification and prevent loss, contamination or confusion, and report accidents; Monitor quality of work, note anomalies and report when necessary; Fill in forms and worksheets and sign/initial records; Operate equipment according to instructions and manuals, check calibration status, report anomalies, and perform routine maintenance; Keep equipment and workplace clean and tidy; Bring method or operation improvement considerations to the Laboratory Manager or Quality Manager; Complete all required records as per ISO 17025, INAB requirements and the laboratory's quality management system

Requirements

Full or partial secondary education; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; Citizen or Permanent Resident of Ireland, or hold or be able to obtain a valid working visa
