GIS Specialist

Nationally recognized environmental remediation contractor (#3 in ENR in 2026) is looking for a GIS Specialist to support operations onsite in Deepwater, New Jersey. This position will require a general understanding of GPS hardware (GNSS Receivers, Base Stations, Rovers) and GIS software (QGIS and ArcGIS). Travel will be required. The daily work will include: Use of GPS hardware (GNSS Receivers, Base Stations, Rovers) and GIS software (QGIS and ArcGIS); Tasks which include working with vector and raster data and data processing; Support field technicians with data collection.

Requirements

General understanding of GPS hardware (GNSS Receivers, Base Stations, Rovers) and GIS software (QGIS and ArcGIS); Bachelor’s Degree in Geographic Information Science or related field (Geology, Environmental Science, etc.); GIS Software fluency (QGIS and ArcGIS) with field applications (QField, Field Maps, Survey123); Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, workflows, and processes/procedures; Ability to learn new software and GIS systems quickly; Basic understanding of Python coding within GIS software; GPS hardware equipment knowledge (Trimble and others); File maintenance and organizational skills; Travel will be required
