Inn Security Officer - Flex

The Security Officer will have the primary goal to maintain a safe and secure environment at the Inn on Biltmore Estate for both associates and guests. Safety Officer will spend a majority of shift on foot patrol, walking, climbing stairs of the interior and perimeter of The Inn to observe and identify potential security and safety risks or undesirable conditions. Officers will also maintain order in The Inn, dealing with the welfare of guests (e.g. assisting with door lock and safe challenges); coordinate expedient response to emergency conditions such as fire or safety hazards and threats to life and or property in a calm, rational and persuasive manner; and will provide general assistance and support for the department, leadership, and the company as needed. Flex: a position working 20-29 hours per week (between 1,000 - 1,559 hours per year). Schedule can vary, but will generally be Friday - Monday, 7am-3pm, 3pm-11pm or 11pm-7am.

Responsibilities

Maintain a safe and secure environment at the Inn on Biltmore Estate for associates and guests; Spend a majority of shift on foot patrol, walking and climbing stairs of the interior and perimeter of The Inn to observe and identify potential security and safety risks; Maintain order in The Inn and deal with the welfare of guests (e.g., assisting with door lock and safe challenges); Coordinate expedient response to emergency conditions such as fire, safety hazards, and threats to life or property; Provide general assistance and support for the department, leadership, and the company as needed; Monitor entrances/exits and conduct daily inspections; Receive, record and store lost and found items, and respond to guest inquiries about them; Mail out claimed items to owners; Conduct safety and other investigations and audits; document and log incidents; Escort guests and employees to parking lots, and employees carrying house banks; Control access to lock-up areas; Manage all fire alarms and emergencies within the property; Mitigate liability and risk for people and property; Maintain an audit of all card keys and hard keys to the doors of the Inn; Recommend safety ideas and participate in fire prevention and other life safety programs

Requirements

High school diploma; At least one (1) year of similar experience in guest services support, safety, security, or a related field; Demonstrated commitment to delivering world class internal/external guest service and proven leadership skills; Outstanding interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills; Ability to write and complete reports in standard English; Proactive and exercises good judgment; can problem solve and troubleshoot; Ability to handle a variety of guest and employee situations in a professional manner; excellent attention to detail with a focus on service and quality; Must be able to quickly acquire knowledge of Biltmore systems and protocols; Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion; Must have or be able to obtain AED, CPR and First Aid certification; Must be able to pass a physical exam at the Biltmore Clinic prior to starting work; Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs., up to 75-100 lbs. with assistance in emergency situations; Must be able to stand, walk, and climb as needed; Frequent pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, and reaching; Must be able to physically respond and effectively coordinate in the event of emergencies; May be exposed to dirt, pollen, chemicals, fluids, or other substances; May work outside with fluctuations in temperature and conditions; Must be at least 19 years of age and have valid NC Driver's License

Nice to have

Additional training or certifications preferred; Experience preferably in an upscale attraction/hotel/resort environment; Second language helpful
