Intermediate Fullstack Engineer, Subscription Lifecycle

As an Intermediate Fullstack Engineer on GitLab's Subscription Lifecycle team within Monetization, you'll build the frontend experiences and backend services customers use to view and manage subscriptions, renew products, configure auto-renewal, and manage billing accounts. Your work will span renewals, overages and reconciliations, subscription visibility, and budget and reservation management, keeping subscription, billing, and account data accurate and reliable. Because these workflows directly affect revenue, customer access, and financial information, you'll use technical judgment, safe and iterative rollouts, and a high bar for reliability and correctness.

Responsibilities

Design and build fullstack features across the post-purchase subscription journey; Contribute to the technical design and implementation of new subscription lifecycle capabilities; Partner with Product and Design to translate renewal, billing account, and customer experience requirements into resilient, well-tested solutions; Integrate subscription lifecycle workflows safely with billing, customer account, and internal admin systems; Write maintainable, well-tested code and follow engineering practices for rollout safety and monitoring; Participate in code reviews and provide thoughtful, constructive feedback; Identify and reduce technical debt and architectural risk in the subscription lifecycle; Participate in incident response for subscription and renewal issues; Take part in on-call or operational support where your team's ownership model requires it

Requirements

Professional experience as a fullstack engineer and confidence working across frontend and backend code; Experience with Ruby on Rails (Must have); Experience owning technical direction for a product area, including proposing, discussing, and driving thorough, iterative solutions; Experience building or maintaining transactional or checkout-style flows, ideally in a billing, ecommerce, or subscription context; A focus on safe, incremental delivery given the revenue and customer impact of this work; The ability to communicate clearly and concisely about complex technical, architectural, and organizational problems and propose thorough, iterative solutions; Written and spoken English proficiency sufficient to collaborate in a remote, largely asynchronous work environment; Alignment with GitLab's values and a commitment to working in accordance with them

Nice to have

Vue.js (preferred) or React; Familiarity integrating with third-party billing or customer relationship management systems such as Zuora, Salesforce, or Stripe
