IR Technologist

Responsible for setting up interventional radiology (IR) rooms specific to the study being conducted. Utilizes customer service skills while interacting with patients as well as family members to create a caring atmosphere during their visit. Progresses towards proficient and competent performance with regards to interventional procedures, fluoroscopy room equipment, digital subtraction, inventory, power injections and post processing tools.

Responsibilities

Setting up interventional radiology (IR) rooms specific to the study being conducted; Utilizing customer service skills while interacting with patients and family members to create a caring atmosphere during their visit; Progressing towards proficient and competent performance in interventional procedures, fluoroscopy room equipment, digital subtraction, inventory, power injections and post processing tools; Preparing room and patient specific to the exam; arranging equipment, trays, supplies, positioning patients, and determining exposure factors; Utilizing electronic patient information systems to verify patient name, date, appropriate exam, and special comments; practicing the Dual patient identifier procedure; Observing each patient's status and interpreting information needed to meet age-specific needs; Transferring patients to and from imaging tables using assistive devices such as ARJO lift, transfer boards, hover mats; Maintaining accurate patient record keeping by properly identifying images and ensuring images are sent to PACS correctly; Completing and billing for studies accurately; Performing other duties as assigned

Requirements

Completion of formal training in an approved School of Radiologic Technology or equivalent combination of education and experience; Licensed Radiologic Technologist upon hire; ARRT - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists certification with CE credits upon hire
