Lab Animal Technician Assistant I

The Laboratory Animal or Cagewash Technician Assistant will perform activities associated with the provision of routine husbandry services done in one or more animal housing rooms containing various species of laboratory animals.

Responsibilities

Perform activities associated with the provision of routine husbandry services in animal housing rooms; Provide general and technical assistance to supervisors, investigators, animal health, and veterinary staff; Provide support to Vivarium common service areas such as cagewash room, waste/trash removal, and sterile supply; Observe animals daily for signs of ill health or other abnormalities; Maintain records such as animal and supply inventories, animal room or cagewash logs, and special charges; Inspect and evaluate caging, physical plant, and equipment for conditions affecting animal well-being and staff safety; Other duties as assigned

Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent; less than 1 year of relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Nice to have

General experience with animals in a work environment or a research environment preferred
