Machinist

Responsible for the end-to-end design and fabricating of parts and components to support manufacturing needs. Combines CAD/CAM design with small batch, mixed production hands-on machining using CNC milling and slant bed lathes, welding, and troubleshooting of mechanical issues. Collaborates with maintenance and operations teams on improvements and projects.

Responsibilities

Responsible for the end-to-end design and fabricating of parts and components to support manufacturing needs; Combines CAD/CAM design with small batch, mixed production hands-on machining using CNC milling and slant bed lathes, welding, and troubleshooting of mechanical issues; Collaborates with maintenance and operations teams on improvements and projects; Create and send component drawings to 3rd party machining as needed; Perform welding and cutting as needed; Fabricate and modify equipment, guards, and fixtures as needed; Partner with Maintenance, Engineering, and Operations on equipment improvements; Support equipment installations, startups, and modifications; Document work in CMMS (maintenance management system); Assist with continuous improvement and cost-reduction initiatives

Requirements

Technical degree, apprenticeship in machining or related field, or equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience; Ability to design and machine end-to-end; CAD/CAM software such as Fusion 360, SolidWorks, Mastercam, or similar; Experience with manual and CNC; Experience with welding and general fabrication; Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills; Effective written and verbal communication skills
