Master Thesis – R&D Nonwoven Linting Analysis

Essity is offering a master thesis opportunity in its R&D team focused on material development for nonwoven products. The thesis will explore the linting behaviour of nonwoven wipes on various surfaces, aiming to understand how material structure and surface characteristics influence fiber release. The work combines experimental lab work, literature research, and data analysis, and is planned for the spring semester (January–June). The student will be supported by experienced supervisors and access to relevant lab equipment.

Responsibilities

Conducting lab experiments and measurements; Performing statistical data analysis; Reviewing relevant literature to support findings; Working with a range of nonwoven materials and test surfaces; Using methods for lint quantification, friction testing, and microscopy; Contributing to practical recommendations for product optimization

Requirements

Technical or engineering background, preferably in Material Science; Experimental and analytical mindset; Basic understanding of statistics; Interest in materials and product performance; Good communication and teamwork skills; Comfortable working in a lab environment; Currently studying in Sweden and based in the Gothenburg area or able to arrange accommodation locally for the duration of the project
