Responsibilities

Participate in the whole design cycle of flight mechanisms, including conceptualization, trade studies, detailed design, analysis, testing (development, qualification, acceptance), and delivery.; Generate component, assembly, and interface designs and drawings/documents. Manage change requests of released design products.; Perform hand calculations and FEA to develop, assess, and optimize designs. Includes things like structural, kinematic, torque, and force analysis.; Develop and execute test plans and procedures, including the planning, execution, data reduction, and analysis.; Participate in design reviews internally and with external suppliers and customers.; Prepare technical reports and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.; Take ownership over certification work.; Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of engineers to prepare mechanisms for flight certification.

Requirements

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related field.; 3+ years of experience in designing mechanisms for the aerospace industry.; Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.; Experience with CAD software (such as Nx (Siemens)) for 3D modeling and simulation.; Knowledge of GD&T and change release process.; Knowledge of space environment challenges (vacuum, radiation, extreme temperatures) and their impact on mechanisms.; Experience with kinematic, torque and force calculations.; Systems engineering thinking.; Familiarity with industry standards and guidelines for space mechanisms.
