Medical Assistant Family Practice

Location: 9870 S Estrella Pkwy, Goodyear AZ 85338. Banner Medical Group provides both primary and specialty care throughout the communities in which Banner Health operates. This position is responsible for assisting clinicians and nursing staff in providing medical care, as well as implementing and evaluating direct patient care.

Responsibilities

Assists clinicians and nursing staff in providing medical care; Prepares patients for exam and treatment by taking and recording vital signs, symptoms and other measurements, recording chief complaint and documenting pain scores; Reports changes in patient condition to the clinician; Assists providers with exams and minor in-office procedures, including blood pressure, respiration, heart rate/pulse, temperature, phlebotomies, ear irrigation and EKGs; Acts as chaperone as needed; Follows universal blood and body fluid precautions and uses personal protective equipment; Prioritizes patient flow through the clinical process; Coordinates and manages patient care, including pre-certifications, referrals, authorizations, prescriptions and scheduling; Communicates test results to patients; May administer medications per established policies or as directed; Provides clerical support, patient notifications and medical record documentation; Provides accurate information for billing in a timely fashion; Maintains a clean, functional environment, including cleaning and disinfection of equipment and exam rooms; Performs basic equipment maintenance and coordinates repairs; Orders supplies as directed and stocks patient care areas; Handles medication ordering and expired medication/equipment and recall tasks; Develops and maintains effective communication with external and internal customers; Completes on-boarding/orientation activities, including simulation training; Works under direct supervision of providers and interacts with staff, physicians, patients, families and external contacts

Requirements

High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge; Completion of an approved medical assistant training program as defined by state regulations; Active Medical Assistant Certification (RMA, CMA, CCMA, or NCMA with current professional membership/testing as specified) is required; Uncertified Medical Assistants considered with proof of completion of a formal Medical Assistant education program, with 12 months from hire date to obtain national certification; BLS certification required; Certification or additional training must meet the requirements for Meaningful use; Strong computer skills, including ability to work with medical software; Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills; Ability to manage multiple changing priorities in an effective and organized fashion; Experience with office medical procedures and treatments and knowledge of insurance, managed care operations, EMR and scheduling software preferred; Additional related education and/or experience preferred; Employees in a Behavioral Health clinical setting serving children must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at hire and maintain it, and sign an Arizona Criminal History Affidavit upon hire
