Patent Associate

This is an Austin-based opportunity for a junior- to mid-level patent associate attorney to join our client’s high-performing Intellectual Property team. This technically-informed and commercially-relevant group is trusted counsel for Strategic Patent Counseling and IP Diligence, PTAB Proceedings, and Patent Litigation & Amicus Filings. They advise clients on a wide range of biotechnology-related intellectual property issues, including evaluating third party patents ahead of product launches for multinational biopharma enterprises, and developing patent filing strategies around new therapeutic approaches for leading cancer research institutions. They represent clients on a broad range of counseling and strategic portfolio development and management. The team has vast experience with due diligence investigations on proposed transactions across a broad range of technologies and assists clients with IP-related agreements associated with technology transfers through acquisition or licensing opportunities. They are bolstering their associate ranks and excited to speak with USPTO-licensed, or qualified to sit for the patent bar, associates with pharmaceutical prosecution experience.

Responsibilities

Advise clients on biotechnology-related intellectual property issues, including evaluating third party patents ahead of product launches for multinational biopharma enterprises; develop patent filing strategies around new therapeutic approaches for leading cancer research institutions; represent clients on a broad range of counseling and strategic portfolio development and management; conduct due diligence investigations on proposed transactions; assist clients with IP-related agreements associated with technology transfers through acquisition or licensing opportunities

Requirements

Austin-based; junior to mid-level patent associate attorney; USPTO-licensed or qualified to sit for the patent bar; pharmaceutical prosecution experience; PQE 1-3 years or 4-6 years; experience in biotech & health, IP/IT, and patents
