Patient Care Associate - 4 East (Telemetry) - FT - Nights - MRH

Under the supervision of an RN, performs basic patient care and other related technical and clinical support activities. Shift: Nights.

Responsibilities

Performs basic patient care activities as delegated and supervised by an RN, including monitoring vital signs, EKG testing, phlebotomy, taking blood glucose measurements, and recording intake and output; Assists with keeping patient rooms/areas stocked, clean and orderly; Assists patients with personal care and activities of daily living, including bathing, grooming, and eating; Monitors patient status and response and reports abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental, and emotional conditions to nursing staff; Assists with transporting patients, as needed; Additional duties as assigned

Requirements

No degree or other education required; BLS certification (American Heart Association E-Card, AHA RQI E-Card, AHA non-ecard, Red Cross, or Employee Grace Period for Essential Credential); three (3) months of patient care experience or certification of completion from a formal training program; critical thinking skills and decisive judgment; ability to work with minimal supervision; ability to work in a stressful environment; EKG and phlebotomy competencies within six (6) months of hire date; physical requirements including bending, stooping, lifting/carrying patients weighing 35 pounds or more, walking, standing, and sitting
