Patient Care Associate - 7 North (Neuro) - FT - Days - MRH

Under the supervision of an RN, performs basic patient care and other related technical and clinical support activities.

Responsibilities

Monitor patient status and response; Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental, and emotional conditions to nursing staff; Assist with transporting patients, as needed; Assist patients with personal care and activities of daily living, including bathing, grooming, and eating; Keep patient rooms/areas stocked, clean, and orderly; Perform basic patient care activities as delegated and supervised by an RN, including monitoring vital signs, EKG testing, phlebotomy, taking blood glucose measurements, and recording intake and output; Additional duties as assigned

Requirements

No degree or other education required; BLS certification (American Heart Association or Red Cross, or Employee Grace Period for Essential Credential); Three (3) months of patient care experience demonstrating ability to perform basic patient care, or certification of completion from formal training program; EKG and phlebotomy competencies required within six (6) months of hire date; Ability to think critically, make decisive judgments, and work with minimal supervision; Ability to work in a stressful environment; Ability to meet listed physical requirements, including lifting/carrying patients weighing 35 pounds or greater
