Patient Registration Representative

Hours: Mon-Fri 4pm-8pm. The Patient Registration Representative is responsible for Inpatient/Outpatient registrations for the Health System. Obtains proper patient identification, demographics and financial information to adequately register and secure the patient encounter. Responsible for POS collections as required. Maintains a constant focus on providing excellent customer service to patients/families and a professional image.

Responsibilities

Monitor schedule daily for patients arriving at the department; Admit/register scheduled, non-scheduled, or emergent patients; Conduct bedside admissions on direct admits; Obtain identification to assure accuracy of demographic and insurance information; Greet patient and/or relative and obtain or recheck pertinent information; Collect co-payments or deposits as required; Balance cash drawer; Explain facility policies and ensure consent and insurance forms are signed; Comply with Medicare/Medicaid and other insurance rules; Complete MSPQ as required; Attend and participate in staff training or education; Provide coverage in all areas of Admitting; Inventory and release patient valuables

Requirements

High School Graduate or GED

Nice to have

1 or more years of experience in clerical, registration and/or customer service within a health care setting
