Personal Assistant (PA) – Support for Young Man with Autism and Learning Disabilities

We are looking for a kind, reliable and supportive Personal Assistant (PA) to support a man with autism and learning disabilities. You will provide companionship and practical support to help him enjoy his interests, stay active, and access the community. Tasks include supporting with walks, exercise, and activities in the community; attending events, outings and visiting cafes; providing prompts with light domestic tasks; encouraging hobbies such as playing clarinet, music, TV (especially Doctor Who), sewing, and other leisure activities.

Responsibilities

Provide companionship and practical support to help him enjoy his interests, stay active, and access the community; Support with walks, exercise, and activities in the community; Attend events, outings and visit cafes; Provide prompts with light domestic tasks; Encourage hobbies such as playing clarinet, music, TV (especially Doctor Who), sewing, and other leisure activities

Requirements

Kind, reliable and supportive; Friendly, patient, and able to provide encouragement; Interested in supporting someone to live an active and fulfilling life; Reliable and flexible with availability; Empathetic and willingness to learn

Nice to have

Knowledge of autism and learning disabilities preferable; Ideally male, though female applicants will also be considered; Previous experience of supporting people with learning disabilities or autism
