Physician Support Rep III (Float)

The Department of Surgery float position will provide critical support to patient care areas in the event of absences, vacancies, and unexpected work volume increases. The Physician Support Representative (PSR) float will perform complex secretarial and administrative duties in a variety of clinical areas (ambulatory office practices) with minimal direction and considerable latitude for independent judgment. The float PSR will receive training in all of Surgery’s ambulatory practice areas and will have access to eRecord and other systems enabling them to receive and check in patients for their clinic appointments; complete prior authorizations, prepare clinics; manage providers’ time and calendars; optimize provider patient schedules; coordinate patient care and information/data support.

Responsibilities

Provide critical support to patient care areas in the event of absences, vacancies, and unexpected work volume increases; Perform complex secretarial and administrative duties in a variety of clinical areas; Receive training in all of Surgery’s ambulatory practice areas; Schedule appointments, tests and surgeries using hospital’s information system; Obtain prior authorizations as needed for procedures and surgeries; Answer and triage incoming phone calls; Collect and update patient demographic and financial information; Serve as primary contact for providers and manage calendars; Greet patients and initiate positive ambulatory experience; Other duties as assigned

Requirements

High School Diploma and 2 years of relevant experience required; or equivalent combination of education and experience required; Demonstrated customer relations skills required; Ability to travel throughout the workday required

Medical Terminology; experiences with surgical/appointment scheduling software (such as Flowcast); electronic medical records
