Projects Director

We are seeking a Projects Director who will be the owner of customer accounts, providing a single point of contact that manages the life cycle of the project, opportunities, delivery, compliance and customer escalations. Control the overall design and operational delivery of projects, considering safety, technical, commercial, and managerial requirements, from bid and pre-commencement through to successful practical completion, and ensuring that profitability is maintained or improved through effective leadership, high-quality customer relations, and management of relevant support functions allocated to the project.

Responsibilities

Own customer accounts and provide single point of contact managing project life cycle, opportunities, delivery, compliance and escalations; control overall design and operational delivery of projects from bid and pre-commencement through to practical completion; demonstrate strong Health and Safety leadership and compliance; manage key customer accounts ensuring service levels, team structure and budgets; establish and maintain customer teams to maximise account growth and profitable performance; handle senior management responsibilities for HR processes and people management; ensure all projects are delivered in adherence with ISO requirements and business systems; participate in bid activities and support sales and bid proposal team; manage pre-commencement activities to maximise opportunities, efficiency and profitability; engage with supply chain and commercial teams to manage subcontractor contracts, performance, risks, opportunities and CVR reports; lead teams to manage specialist sub-contractors safely to specification and programme; provide leadership for project management delivery teams through clear objectives, responsibilities and performance management; provide customer progress reporting using correct management tools and templates; be accountable for internal business reports and contract reviews ensuring accuracy of costs, values and programme forecasts; manage effective use of company email; represent the business at events and engage with customers; initiate contact with customers to assess future needs; operate as a subject matter expert in relevant areas; carry out employee performance reviews and mentor/coach team members; uphold core values and maintain confidentiality and data protection.

Requirements

PMP certified or equivalent; minimum 10 years proven experience in a similar role; deep expertise in electrical and mechanical systems to oversee complex infrastructure installations; collaboration with cross-functional teams to optimise design and execution of electrical and mechanical components; demonstrable experience within the data centre industry; strong commercial acumen and understanding of business financial principles; proven leadership capability and people management skills; mentoring and guiding engineering teams; strong stakeholder management and ability to build and maintain excellent client/customer relations; excellent time management and ability to work under pressure; sector and industry knowledge within Data Centre and associated services environment; solid understanding of Health and Safety regulations with experience implementing policies and procedures; necessary accreditations and certifications relevant to role and industry; contributes to development of DPI strategy and policy; leads a monitoring programme to enable team members to progress; IT skills in Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint; flexibility to travel as required by business.

Nice to have

Degree in Engineering, Business Studies or a related field; experience within white and grey space and connectivity-biased data centre environments; Health and Safety certification.
