Publication date: 31/08/2026

Atrium Health Pineville Mother-Baby is a 22-bed fast-paced unit caring for postpartum women and their newborns in a couplet care model. We care for low-to-high-risk patients and care for postpartum patients on Magnesium. We are designated by Baby-Friendly USA as a Baby-Friendly Hospital and focus on lactation support. We are designated by ANCC as a Pathways to Excellence Hospital and are on the Magnet journey to nursing excellence. Our unit is a strong teamwork-focused environment with opportunities to grow and learn new skills. We encourage our nurses to get certified in maternal-newborn care. There are many ways to get involved through various small unit-based committees, including Unit Based Council to impact unit culture and patient care. Atrium Health Pineville is proud to be an ANCC Pathways to Excellence organization in which we empower and give a voice to nurses. The ANCC Pathway to Excellence designation underscores our commitment to creating a healthy work environment where nurses excel. We believe that nurses are the heart of patient care, which is why our nursing staff is an integral part of our interprofessional team. Our organization’s investment in our nurses means better quality care, safety, and patient outcomes.
