SAP Basis – Database & Automation Specialist

As a Database Specialist, you will take responsibility of SAP database setup & operations in a Tailored Datacenter Integration (TDI) environment. You will play a key role in driving automation, standardization, and modernization across SAP platform operations.

Responsibilities

Take responsibility of SAP database setup & operations in a Tailored Datacenter Integration (TDI) environment; Ensure high availability, performance, and stability of SAP databases, specifically SAP HANA; Manage and optimize SAP HANA-based database systems in production environments; Implement and maintain security and governance standards; Drive automation of database administration tasks; Own and continuously improve Backup & Recovery concepts and Disaster Recovery strategies and processes; Perform root cause analysis and problem resolution for database-related issues; Collaborate with SAP Basis and infrastructure teams on system lifecycle activities; Plan and test Database lifecycle management; Prepare and coordinate patching, upgrades, migrations; Design and implement automation solutions for SAP infrastructure and operations; Develop and maintain standard and custom automations; Enable and support DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and operational workflows; Integrate SAP operations with modern toolchains and monitoring solutions; Collaborate with global teams to ensure scalable and repeatable processes

Requirements

Strong database understanding (mandatory); Solid SQL skills for system management and optimization; Experience with SAP Basis operations (Associate level); Understanding of SAP system architecture and dependencies; Practical experience with Python scripting; Ansible / Terraform; Git-based workflows; CI/CD pipelines; Knowledge of modern infrastructure and cloud concepts; Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools; Strong architecture understanding across SAP and infrastructure layers; Ability to analyze complex system landscapes and dependencies; Capability to bridge SAP Basis and automation domains as a Subject Matter Expert; High level of proactivity and ownership; Strong self-motivation and initiative; Continuous learning mindset; Problem-solving mentality driven by creativity, curiosity, efficiency; Excellent communication skills (spoken and written English); Ability to work transparently in a global team environment; Strong collaboration across functional and regional boundaries; Creation and maintenance of technical documentation using Markdown and architecture diagrams (e.g., Mermaid); SAP Basis fundamentals combined with advanced database expertise (HANA focus); Strong automation capabilities; Structured, analytical, and solution-oriented thinking
